Signature interior design by Nini Andrade Silva and RH+ Arquitectos A timeless classic, the interior design is influenced by a recent world history period, the Belle Époque, which is in total harmony with the island’s cultural resources providing an exciting blend of existing natural and intangible heritage. It brings together a number of elements: the exuberance of the surrounding landscape, the unique man-made environment, particularly the ancient irrigation channels (levadas) and tunnels, the excellence and mastery of Madeiran embroidery, the centuries-old art of wickerwork and the expertise involved in the production of one of the best fortified wines in the world - Madeira Wine. Together these unique features underlie the metamorphosis between the conceptual inspiration and the finished interior design. In the reception area, a special atmosphere is created by the presence of an impressive chandelier and large mirror that give a feeling of space, sumptuousness and grandeur. The hotel’s common areas are bold and inspirational with the emphasis on bright colours, sinuous curves suggesting plant forms, animals and women, as well as ornaments clearly based on Art Nouveau.
